Czech for Foreigners 2024/25 (non-Slavic and non-visa applicants)

The course is intended for non-Slavic speaking students who already live in the Czech Republic and will stay there for the duration of their studies in the one-year course.

The course is aimed at complete beginners – students with no prior knowledge of the language. The language of instruction from the beginning of the course is English.

Course content

Czech for Foreigners courses are aimed at complete beginners and students with some basic knowledge of the language (pre-intermediate students). We will teach you how to communicate in real life situations.

  • Czech for everyday communication – conversation, grammar, work with texts
  • Culture, society and history of the Czech Republic

Course objectives

The aim of the course is an acquisition and further development of language knowledge and skills. Moreover, the course will provide students with a solid foundation in the Czech language needed for effective communication in everyday life and integration into Czech society.

Language preparation is based on the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages“. AtIn the end of the course there is an A2 level mock language test of all language skills – listening, reading and grammar, writing and speaking.

Final Examination in Czech for Foreigners

  • Part-time course (280 hrs) – mock test of level A2
  • According to the criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference
  • Examination passing requirements (passing score is 60%)
  • Sample final test papers

Entry requirements

  • A completed online course application form
  • A valid residence in the Czech Republic for the duration of the studies,
  • Beiing 17 years and older at the course start date. If the student is under 18 years of age, the student’s parent or other person authorized by one of the parents acts for the student until he or she reaches the age of 18.
  • Payment by semesters before the start of each semester (winter and summer semester).

Duration of the course

One year intensive course consisting of 280 hours (140 hours in a semester)
Evening course, from 5 p.m. till 6:30 p.m. (2 hours a day)
8 hours per week.
Start in October 2024, completed by June 2025. (There will be a 3 week break during Christmas and New year)
